Normally I visit Lulu's in the morning, but this time I was in downtown Santa Cruz late in the day and got to visit Lulus for the first time in the evening. The atmosphere inside the coffee house was quite different. Nice soft night lighting. Relaxing music. Classy environment!

I ordered a small latte. Barista got distracted while talking on the phone. She almost forgot to tamp the grounds.

The latte, which was made with Classico espresso, had such a strong chocolate flavor that it almost tasted like a mocha. Very nice!

Panama Esmeralda at Verve, I waited four months for that. On Saturday a break in the weeklong rain, so drove south to Santa Cruz to get some.

I ordered a single cup of Esmeralda. Chris Baca grinding 30 gram Esmeralda coffee beans.

Roasted Panama Esmeralda coffee beans at $48 per 12oz bag, ouch! To make it more affordable for me I bought a 1/2 pound bag for $32, ouch!

Esmeralda press pot coffee was poured into a mug with a customized label, nice! Chris recommended that I let the coffee cool for 3 to 5 minutes before tasting. The Esmeralda coffee was very clean, sweet and the lime acidity coated my whole mouth. Plenty of other delicate flavors. Nice!!! Very worthwhile to taste good coffee like this.
