I was working in the San Joaquin Valley this week (near Fresno) and Google found me this place, a drive-through coffee establishment across the parking lot from an Arco on Manning Ave. in Fowler. I got an espresso in a paper cup, freshly ground, tamped, and pulled on a real espresso machine. It wasn't bad and it definitely beat the ever-present alternative. Looks like this is a new location for Carmel Valley Coffee Roasters. -Chris (Click for larger image)

Carmel Valley Coffee Roasters is junk, shouldn't even be mentioned here, definately not third wave. I don't mind them moving 200 miles from the bay area.

I thought the point of this forum was do discuss coffee in the western regions of the United States. yakster specifically stated it was not bad and that it was the best alternative in the area. That is valuable information for anyone traveling down the 99. I get to the area occasionally and have a decided interest in knowing that there is anything at all that is "not bad".

I wish this was the third-wave only club. Sometimes seems more like the making-not-bad-coffee-acceptable club.

Carmel Valley is awful burnt coffee, if you want a belly ache you can pay me $2 and i'll kick you in the stomach, net savings of around $1.25.
