FINALLY! :) Grazie, Michael -- I work near the Ferry Building, so I'll check it out tomorrow!

Ciao,

I had this Retrofit ristretto which had nice butter smooth body but not that much flavor.

Steaming milk for a latte. Walk across the hallway to Miette to enjoy the latte with some vanilla Parisian macarons. Yum! I bought three half pound bags of coffee beans.

Blue Bottle in the Ferry Building is a corner store and on the other side is another espresso machine and drip bar.

James told me that this is the first LM PID paddlewheel espresso mcahine in the US. I had this Hayes Valley espresso which had nice complexity.

One more Retrofit ristretto. They have these new pretty minimalist cups. It is different drinking from these cups but still nice.

That's a sweet lever machine. Thanks for the early look. I was eager to get there myself but so don't want to go there over the weekend when it's probably going to be insane.  So what's the difference between the two machines? Are they doing SO shots on the lever and others on the pump like at the cafe or some other arrangement?

I don't think they will be pulling SO shots on the lever. They were pulling Retrofit which is a blend. The lever espresso machine is in the main hall so it's a real eye catcher. I bet some people walking by might think the lever handle is a beer tap handle and order a beer.

So the lever espresso machine is on some fancy stand that they roll into the main hall so people don't have to enter the coffee house to see the espresso machine (smart idea!). They can roll the espresso machine inside for storage at night. They also have a nice mobile bar stand that is positioned on the corner of the coffee house.  I noticed a Rancilio Silvia for sale for $725. The Ferry Building is so nice and fancy inside that asking $725 for a Silvia somehow doesn't seem unreasonable. They also sell a home lever espresso machine and various grinders.
