Two weeks ago at Ritual they introduced several new 2008 crops from Panama. To celebrate, Ritual had a Panama week. In 2007 there was more hoopla about the Esmeralda, but I did want to try the 2008 auction lot ES 9-22 Esmeralda coffee from Ritual which was made on the Clover.

Hey Gary, you should have been by the Napa spot when Josh pulled a few shots of it!

I wasn't there that day. He said it made fairly astringent shots.

Of the little bit that I had to try, I liked it the most in (surprisingly) an aeropress. Couldn't beat those florals.

I did a cafe crawl last Saturday, hitting Ritual, Four Barrel and Blue Bottle (Linden).
While at Ritual I noticed a bag of Misty Valley Yirg. mentioned early. I picked up a bag to take home.
After several cups at home I've come to the conclusion that no one else should told of this bean - as I want it all for myself. The blueberry balance is just right  - solid, but in no way overpowering. I've pulled it on the cool side with a fast shot and it's so smooth. So please, mention Misty Valley Yirg no more.

The Lifesaver and Hairbender shots were very nice with full body, lots of flavor, good finish.

First time I pulled shots with the Misty Valley Yirgacheffe from Ritual was in August. Nice blueberry but no complexity. Currently I use the Misty Valley to make drip coffee which I like better than the espresso shots.

It works very as an Americano. That's all I ask of it - for now.
