Thursday evening - leave Ritual at 4pm Barista Throw Down at Barefoot We'll fill cars with baristas and head down to our friends at Barefoot in Santa Clara. They're closing their shop early for a mock competition with their competitors, Baca and the competitors from Temple in Sacramento. Last year we did the same thing and all I remember was delicious beer, the sweet-ass lever machine that they have and how good Baca's lavender drink was. Leave Ritual at 4 pm. Open to anyone but please RSVP to Eileen for a spot in the car. P.S. Dev says there's cute boys too!
Friday 1-3 pm - Ritual Gardens Clover Demo at Ritual Gardens We're going to install a Clover at the new shop this week! Ryan has picked his current favorite coffees and dialed them in. Stop by and sample a few different Clovered coffees. We'll also set up a cupping so we can compare the different methods. Maybe I'll even bring my vac pot. Ooh. Tell your friends. Everyone welcome. Just show up.
Sunday 11 am - Valencia St Ritual Coffee Club Bike Posse Coffee Tasting * Meet at Ritual on Valencia Street and ride to our new location at 3rd and Jerrold for a coffee tasting! Enjoy a fun bike route between the Mission and the Bayview and arrive at a magical garden cafe to do a "cupping," the coffee industry way of evaluating coffee. If you like bikes and you like coffee, the RCCBP is for you! For more info, contact Eileen. Everyone welcome, just show up at Ritual on Valencia at 11 on a bike.
Monday 6pm - Ritual Gardens Baca's Full Dress Rehearsal So you've probably caught glimpses of Baca practicing and you know he rocked it at the Western Regional but now it's time for Nationals. He's practiced a ton and even developed a new espresso blend since the Regional competition. This is your chance to see him in full dress rehearsal and actually get to drink that lime cordial that he's always talking about. (Not to mention his new espresso blend). Please bring all your friends, your mom and her neighbor. We'd like to give him all the stage fright we can muster. I'll supply the chicken wings and PBR. Call my cell phone if you're having a hard time finding it. Eileen 710-6087.

Bought a half pound of Sumatra Lake Tawar and pulled some nice shots this morning ranging from 1oz to 2oz. I was not able to get the optimum flavor out of these beans most likely because they are only three days after roast. I'll let them rest for a few more days and pull some more shots.
Edit: Update. I was able to get greatly improved Lake Tawar shots by reducing the amount of grounds used for a double from 19gram to 14gram. Did this after reading lower dose gives more fruity flavors.
