Subject: Charlotte, NC Great Coffeeshops

I tried to open a shop here in Charlotte back in 2004 but things didn't work out. Unfortunately it took a while for our area to get some great places and while they are still few and far between, at least we have them.

Not Just Coffee at Seventh Street Station & Atherton Mills Market
James and his crew have done a great job breaking the ice of the area and showcasing pourover and fantastic espresso extractions. Using Counter Culture currently.

Central Coffee Co. off Central Blvd
Jimmy's little shop packs a lot of greatness in a little space. Jimmy knows how to pull a shot and has hosted many a TNT. On site baked goods also make it a great hang out.

The Secret Chocolatier off Ballantyne Commons in South Charlotte
My family opened a chocolate shop a few miles south of downtown 3 years ago and we recently took over a shop in south Charlotte. We're happy to have come full circle and able to work some magic with espresso and coffees out of a trifecta in the new location. Utilizing local roasted Magnolia Coffee Co.

I've heard of another new shop opening in the NoDa area but I know not of their quality of who will be the roasters. There are many other coffee shops in the area, most are either using Illy/LaVazza or have little consistent training so you're looking at dangerous products.

Just spent few days north of Charlotte and was very happy with what Waterbean Coffee had to offer.
I did not realize at first but they had 4 beans available for any brew ranging from medium to dark roasts from different roasters like Torch and Verve sitting in K30 Vario grinders. They had an EK 43 they seem to use for pour over.
The default for espresso was a darker roast which I didn't appreciate but switching to the lighter options fixed that right away.
Machine was automatic and they had the grind dialed in so the result was very tasty.
