Subject: NYC region Barista Training

The lastest post I saw on this topic was several years old, and I thought it was worth asking the experts here their opinion on where to go for barista training.

"Barista Training in NYC?"

I would like to be more familiar with the prep and what actually happens brewing coffee.   I look at thsi as education / self improvement / entertainment.   I like to learn about things.

Any training in the NYC area people recommend for someone who hasn't pulled a shot in their life (OK once on a friends equipment, they had a tamp that regulated pressure, I still got channeling).

Alternately, are any of these good options?  I see Counter Culture has a new NYC location, but most of their classes are not public.

Kitten Coffee seems a good starting point for $40. I know of an excellent intense espresso coffee training in San Francisco Bay, CA which Dr. John from www.josuma.com is conducting and I beleive is an expensive 3 days course.

If you've never pulled a shot before, even the basic courses might be over your head, but I think Anne can hook you up with something that'll work for you.
