This Thursday we'll be hosting Edwin Martinez, owner of Finca Vista Hermosa, for Meet The Farmer: A Discussion on Farming and Direct Trade. We're 45 minutes northwest of Pittsburgh, at 3219 4th Ave Beaver Falls, PA. Anyone passionate about coffee, trade issues, and sustainability is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Man!...I am sorry that I NEVER saw this until this morning!...> 5 months after it was posted!

Jake,

Was it well attended? Did many of the Pittsburgh locals show up?

I keep hearing good things about you/your shop from "kids" I know attending Geneva...and even from their parents.

If I remember correctly, I don't think it was.  Tough crowd up here.

Glad to hear that you are hearing about us!  Sometimes the distance between the two cities is a little steep (although, for some reason, whenever I say I'm going downtown, people always assume it is Pittsburgh...).

If you get a chance, Jake is now working at 21st in the Strip -- give him a visit!

Hmmm...perhaps this tired old "string" needs to be replaced with a new Topic.

I was in Western PA for business, and had time for a quick stop on the way back to the airport yesterday. Glad this (old) thread pointed me in the right directions!

Stopped into Espresso a Mano. Very interesting cafe. I walked up and ordered a double, and the cashier pointed me to the menu! AWESOME. They were pulling three different coffees, I think all single-origin espresso, and featured coffees from some of the best roasters in the country - Ritual, Verve, Counter Culture (can't remember if there were others). I was already caffeinated, and so couldn't afford the caffeine from three different shots, or else I would have.

Picked up a bag of the Ritual "Hunters in the Snow" seasonal espresso, roast date March 23. I'll get to pull it in a few days, can't wait.

Overall highly recommended.

INDEED!

Matt's Espresso a Mano is now the best coffee bar in the "burgh", in my opinion.

Also, far too many of the standout bars are gone, vide:
- Blue Horse
- The Vault
- Aldo's (now Orbis and still really good!)
- Beleza Coffee Community
- Mojo Bistro
- Cuppy's

Additionally, some not-too-standout bars are also gone, vide:
- Amani Coffee House
- Afagato
- The Bean Café

Alas...there are far too many *$'s!
