Subject: Atlanta area - Green Beans?

Hey everyone,

Any good places in the Atlanta area where you can buy green beans?
As convenient as it is to order off the net, sometime I wish I could just run out and grab something new on a whim..

I think in an older post I might have read something about the DeKalb Farmers Market.. Do they/did they offer green, or just freshly roasted?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Regards,
Paul

Atlanta Coffee Roasters used to sell green beans.  they've changed ownership in the last year so I don't know if they still sell them or not.  But it might be worth an inquiry if you are close by.  They are in the Druid Hills shoppping center, at the corner of Lavista and North Druid Hills.

In the Toco Hills shopping center? I'm within walking distance from there.. Jeesh.. Never even saw this place with all the trips I take to Krogers..
Granted, I've only been here 6 months..
Thanks, I'll have to check that out the next time I am there.

Ya.  Toco Hills.  I forgot the name.

I used to live within walking distance myself.  I have not been there since the most recent change in ownership, so I can't comment on current quality.  Under previous ownership, drinks were mediocre; roasted beans were mostly good but old.

When I was in Atlanta last month I bought some green at Java Vino over on N. Highland.  They roast in the shop once or twice a week.

Thanks. Just checked out the site..
Sent them an email with a few questions (looked like they only offer one type of bean green?)
Only like 3 miles from my work, so maybe I'll pay a visit tomorrow.

Thanks again for the link

Regards,
Paul

They had much more of a selection at the shop (they had a list) pretty good prices too.  The only one that they have on the web site is the house coffee that they carry, it's a nicaraguan coffee from the owners in-laws coffee farm.

I haven't roasted the pound that I bought there (the nekkid man blend) yet, I think it's supposed to be a good espresso blend.  I'm waiting until I know I have my home set up dialed in before I try it.

Paul,
I get greens at the DeKalb Farmers Market on a regular basis.  What you can get green will depend on who is working the counter that day.
They regularly sell Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, but I have gotten Kenyan and Columbian there also.  If you buy more that 10# you get an additional 10% off.  They sell their greens for 30% off of what their roasted bean price.

Thanks Steve. I'll have to check that out.

I actually stopped at Javavino this past weekend.
Had an espresso while I was there.. Eh..

I bought a pound of their, I guess "house" green and roasted it last night and tonight.
I haven't tried any of it yet, but it looks like it roasted up pretty nice.

They also said that they would sell greens for whatever they had 'in the back' if it was available.

$4 a pound, not bad.

Thanks for hook-up, need to get out there now.

Regards,
Paul

Bringing back an old thread. I picked up 3lbs from Dekalb Farmer's Market a couple weeks ago.

Ethiopian Harar organic  $4.99 a lb
Ethiopian Limu organic $4.99 a lb
Columbian Organic $5.99 a lb

I just roasted the Harar and will update once I have tried it out.
