Thanks, I found panther city on the internet last week and plan to check those guys out as soon as I'm back in Ft. Worth. Right now I'm in Chile but will be back in Aug. Also read all the Jam posts and wish I could attend one. I also checked out the North TX cafe thread and it seems like there is really few quality places to go to. I was thrilled to find out about panther city. I am not too far away. I just picked up a Silvia/Rocky combo. I haven't seen it yet but am very eager. The Silvia may require some work, but I'm looking forward to tackling that. So far a steal at $50 for the Silvia. Even if I have to spend a little fixing it. I don't think it's anything major though. Just told it gives off a slightly burned smell but works ok. I've be into drinking coffee for a long time but I've just really gotten into espresso and I'm already so hooked.
Anyway, I hope I can meet some of you guys sometime. I also travel a lot and am looking forward to trying out places all over the country. Thanks for the good reads, I'm learning a lot.

Sounds like that would be fun. Anyone else up for it? Count me in. I may be back as late as the 15th, so I don't know if you will be around then. If not then maybe sometime soon after like Sept. or Oct.

Good lord am I the only San Antonian?
My name is Greg from San Antonio. I'm a musician and I work with my dad's transportation consulting firm that has an office in Austin...so (luckily) I get some decent coffee in Austin three days a week when I'm away from my home machine.
As a musician, I've traveled all over...especially throughout our great state. As you guys know, good coffee in Texas is pretty scarce....but you'd be surprised where you can find a decent cup. Too bad I can't remember all the names of the coffee shops I've forced various bands into (lol). Yea they all thought I was a big nut in my quest for decent coffee. Ive even had a decent espresso shot in Alpine, tx while playing there (sorry...don't know the name and the place had apparantly shut down last time I visited)
Hopefully all of us can increase coffee awareness in this state. I've written in other threads regarding *$'s and how they have delivered coffee culture to Texas (even if the shots are runny and burnt) and more and more people are starting to discover through sites like this what true coffee is all about.
Great to be part of the coffee community on coffeegeek.com!
first off, enjoy your stay in SA, secondly....dont expect to find a decent espresso anywhere in the city...i can direct you to Ruta Maya Riverwalk...they make good "flavored" espresso drinks (mexican mocha is great)...but as far as decent espresso, forget it. There are a few good place that I can direct you to that have good regular coffee...but sadly, thats about it. And casa de greg is without its grinder for a while :(
also if you need restaurant recommendations or anything...email me.
