Subject: Where to buy Rancilio

I'm in the market for a new espresso machine & grinder and had narrowed my choice down to a Rancilio Silvia V3 & a Rocky to go with it.
Having checked both myespresso & coffeeitalia websites they both do a package within a few £ of eachother (was also tempted by coffeeitalias offer of a Silvia + Mahlkonig Vario Gen II Grinder for £580)
I've read all the horror stories on here about both companies mentioned above and obviously i'm now very hesitant about ordering from either of them. Are there any other alternatives to them? Hasbean only have the limited edition red Silvia instock at the moment and all the other places i've checked either dont stock the Silvia or are quite expensive. Average price between them seems to be about £630 for Rocky ND & Silvia althought myespresso are giving away a 57mm motta tamper, jug, some coffee & rancilio cups as well.

I'm in pretty much exactly the same situation. I'm bumping this topic to see if there is any advice out there....

The Rancilio Rocky is not exactly the best grinder for espresso. Its steps being too wide you can be stuck in between two steps for proper extraction which is highly frustrating. The combination of a Silvia with a Mahlkönig Vario Home II is much better.

I don't know either company, but the offer by Caffè Italia (Silvia + Vario for £580) looks like a snip to go for.

If you really don't want to order there, why not take that offer to a local shop and bargain for a similar prize?

When i got my Silvia v3 new Drury Coffee London were the rancilio distributors. They certainly still sell the larger commercial machines so it might well be worth checking with them about a Silvia.

Couldnt agree more about the Rocky; whilst it makes a neat package i got frustrated using it. I had room under the kitchen cabinets so used an MD50, then a mazzer.
