Subject: 2nd hand grinders?

Has anyone ever bought a second hand coffee grinder in the UK? I'm looking to pick up a quality espresso grinder, but hoped there might be a second hand one out there somewhere. Tried ebay which seems pretty useless. Any other suggestions?

All the best,

Graham.

Useless? Look again, there's one macap, one cimbali, one that looks like a mazzer and some other grinders right now (in ebay.co.uk).

I saw the "mazzer" I think, but it wasn't a convincing ad (I thought). I've put a bid in for the Macap. Maybe its just my pathetic ebay skills :-) Thanks for pointng them out. What should I expect to pay for a good second hand model? Is 150 reasonable?

Thanks again for the help.

Graham.

Hi Graham. Yes, 150 is a reasonable budget and should get you a very capable grinder. You could try calling Scott at HappyDonkey.co.uk - he usually has a fair few decent second hand grinders available but doesn't often list them on his site. Good luck with your search.

For less than 150 you can get a reasonable burr grinder from Whittards & Co. Tea and Coffee.  I think its about 120-130, been using it for a year and is really good for the price.   Its no-longer on their website however my local branch had it in stock last week.

It's an Iberital MC2 and I love mine, aslong as you don't mind the noise that is, as its a tad noisier than a commerical one like a Mazzer Super Jolly, but aside from that I haven't a complaint.

Just checked happydonkey.co.uk and he's selling them for 99.99 Doser or Doserless.

Good Luck

Iberital MC2's are great grinders for the price.

Perfectly adequate for home use and even light commercial (under 30 cups per day)
