I just got back from a really incredible coffee tour in Panama. It was at Finca dos Jefes in the El Salto region of Boquete. I highly recommend it to anyone heading that way. And Rich is incredibly happy to have CoffeeGeeks around! He's used to doing the tours for people who like coffee, but don't necessarily know anything about good coffee. It's $30 for the tour, and includes a pound of good fresh roasted coffee to take home. Finca dos Jefes doesn't export at all - he just sells his beans within Panama, so you won't have seen the beans available in North America. This is the website.

I had that same kind of positive experience at Cafe Ruiz in Boquete. We were the only ones that morning. The tour guide saw my interest, my wife rolled her eyes, and off we were for an exceptional morning.

Cafe Ruiz has decent coffee? We didn't try that cafe. Just Kokawa coffee, which was just okay. Better than the resort coffee by a long shot at least. The only good coffee I've tried in Panama was at the estate, though.
