With our Italian coffee company we are going to open a new location in Santiago del Chile. We have had some taste panel and we have argued that Chilean are quite "Italian" they do not love very delicate blend, but something intense, round but with a long aftertaste, almost citrus.... somebody lives there? Do you agree? We are going to set this blend in Chile: Click Here (italianespresso.wordpress.com)

First of all, i'm sorry because my english is not perfect, but i know you will understand everything.
Hi, i'm from Chile.... i saw this topic, and i just created an account.... i was just a reader of the site, not a poster... i'm going to tell you a bit about coffee culture here... if somebody from Chile read this and doesn't agree, please try to understand that im talking about the majority of people... if you know this site, its very probable you wont feel recognized with what im talking about chilean coffee preferences....
The most consumed coffee here is instantaneous nescafe coffee so almost any bean coffee is over-rated. Here people dont invest much money to have espresso machine in home, nor home roasters, nor grinder machines... they prefer to buy their espresso in coffee shops. I've noticed that when people go to supermarket and have to buy a coffee blend, they feel themselves like lost in front of all the offers... but if you ask them how they prefer their coffee, i can assure you their prefer long aftertastes, toasted flavors, big body and very low aciditty. I think people here prefer tastes to nuts, cocoa, caramel instead of earthy or citrical coffees.
Other thing i've noticed here, is that people believe if the coffee is not 100% arabica coffee, its a bad coffee... sellers capt more clients saying that their coffee is 100% arabica, than by describing their notes or body. I think its good for you to know it.
Could you tell us more about your new location in Santiago? I live in Santiago from march to december, so if you open a new location, i'll visit it.
If u want to contact me, feel free to do it. My mail: ivancorreac (at) gmail.com. I live coffee, so for me it would be a pleassure to help.
