I know Whistler is a coffee wasteland... Ironic considering it's proximity to Vancouver/Seattle. Given the 2010 Olympics, I hope that some new espresso bars may come to the village this year ?? Any coffee news. The archives are not encouraging.

I was in Whistler in June 2009 and can recommend a few places for espresso. First of all the local quality is not as good as Vancouver but what is there can be surprisingly good. As a benchmark I usually drink espresso (single or double) and liked Artigiano in Vancouver
These places serve the best that is available: The Lift Coffee Company (in the village and next door to Summit sports and across from the place to buy activity / summer lift tickets). Most consistent and best staff if you want something off menu; The Four Seasons restaurants (Upper Village); and also in the Upper Village, Portobello in the shops close to the Fairmont (cheapest of this bunch).
Most restaurants do not have anything worth drinking, including Araxi, Rimrock, Hy's, Quattro. Trattoria's espresso was ok. The others you would probably send back (I did at Araxi).
