Do you live in the Lower mainland (or elsewhere but like to drive) and want to check out the La Marzocco GS3 prototype machine?
NB: Date Change! The date is this coming Sunday, November 27, 1pm to 4pm or later.
NB: Location Change After having a bunch of people over this past weekend, I realised that hosting at my place, and with the tiny espresso room is unfeasable. So Alistair has graciously donated his cafe space this coming Sunday for a closed-store testing session.
The address is 1778 West 5th Avenue, around the corner from the 5th Avenue Cinemas on Burrard at 5th. Elysian Coffee and Tea.
Who is invited: anyone who wants to check out the machine, pull shots, taste some good coffees!
All you need to bring is your curiosity, mad barista skillz, and be ready for a healthy dose of caffeine.
Intelligentsia is supplying me with extra coffee for this event, and a surprise for all visitors. We'll have lots of Black Cat, some Kid-O, and even some single origin coffee to play around with. (big thanks to Intelligentsia for helping out) I'll even buy extra milk! You'll get your chance to brew shots, steam milk, check the machine out inside and out, and share your opinions.
The only requirement is I'll have a short questionaire for you to answer. :) (hello focus group!). And maybe some photos and vids taken. And if anyone considers themselves a master cup washer..... (LOL!).
Fire off an email to me at mark@coffeegeek.com to get on the "let in the door list".

Hmm... it just keeps changing... Lucky for me though, it keeps changing to fit with my schedule better. I'm getting pretty excited to drive ten hours for this thing. No jokes. Plenty of time to catch up on podcasts.

Rumour has it there will be a second GS3 at the open house. If it's only Jason and Peter coming you guys will have a machine each!
Just gotta add (now that I've had more time with the GS3 in my kitchen) - this machine lives up to everything you've read. I swear it pulls shots indistinguishable and possibly even better than the GB5 at my cafe.

Purchase...
And yet Mihwa says she wants one too...
Do I hear possibility of renting to caterers? Ah, how easy to justify dropping 5K plus...
Seriously - if we were to ever sell the cafe, this would be the first purchase. No hesitation.
