I visited Illume this morning. I had very nice shots of 49th Epic and Phil & Sebastian decaf. I'm beyond thrilled to have a place nearby where I can pick up beans from such roasters. A wonderful addition to the city's coffee scene!

I agree with most of your points, but I do hope they will get sorted out.
My early enthusiasm was from having a place nearby to get fresh beans from quality roasters (remember we don't have many options here in Ottawa...), but I've been frustratingly unable to get anything fresher than +2weeks (so I haven't).
Hopefully they'll get into a more regular schedule with their bean shipments, but I can appreciate how it must be difficult for a new shop to estimate how much coffee they'll go through, and new shipments might be hard to schedule during the holidays.
I do hope they'll build on their initial focus of quality.

Visited illume back in December and they were out of Phil & Sebastian. They had JJ Bean and Blaser Cafe which made me think they raided Morala out of necessity.
Will definitely give them another shot soon and will definitely grab beans there semi-regularly if they're fresh enough.

Coffee was'nt bad for sure. Staff friendly overall. Give it time me thinks; though honestly there r better options up and down the street (not Bridgehead though as personally the hipster crew on staff r rather boring and their coffee is just ok).

Picked up some Phil & Sebastian that was 5 days off roast this past Saturday. $18.25 gets you a 3/4 lb bag and they get their shipments on Fridays (sometimes every 2nd Friday).
