Hey

Most of you guys have big espresso machines and all of this fancy gear. I have a plunger and a filter and I'm planning on buying a cheap 2nd hand espresso machine on an online auction site soon. I usually make plunger stuff but sometimes I don't have the time. But until I buy my espresso machine I want to know what you think is the best instant coffee you can buy in NZ?

Thanks
Anthony.

Why are you looking for instant soluble coffee when you have a plunger and drip filter?

ditch any thought of instant mate!

Fresh beans, decent grinder, & your plunger will serve you just fine.  Cupping sessions with SOs more often than not utilise the plunger, as the results tend to be more 'pure' to the palate, & ... er ... for want of a better phrase are "true to the bean" (yeah, yeah, David & Peter, I hear you!) ...

It tends to showcase distinctive qualities in a bean better than what the intensity of an espresso can offer.

"best instant coffee"?  Doesn't exist mate ... it's all stale, predominant cheap robusta or low-grade arabica that feeds an undiscerning, 'give-it-to-me-now' consumerist mentality, looking for a quick fix.

You're dead wrong buddy.  I haven't seen a post more off-base in some time.

ALL coffee is instant, you just add hot water.

So for the best instant coffee: Get yourself some freshly roasted, high-quality arabica beans, grind them up, and add hot water.
POW!  It's instant, and it's delicious.

By comparison, that freeze dried crap they sell in grocery stores tastes like a$$.
It's best to stay away from that (and I would never call that stuff coffee anyways)

International Roast, there is something so classically elegant about the white packaging and peeling back the foil to access the coffee.
You can also try Nescafe blend43, Bushells, Moccona and finally the more modern of the bunch Riva.

Enjoy.
