The fall is here and it's time for a quick look back at the long and hot summer we had. It was a busy one!
Mark has set up the CoffeeGeek Lab and we have enjoyed immensely having over local visitors, out of town folks and even neighbors. The long process of rebuilding the site had its bumps but from what I seen and heard the new site will be worthy the wait. In less than two months we will also be celebrating our eight year anniversary. Yes, you read it right! CoffeeGeek will be eight years old! I would like to hear from some of you about how you enjoyed the site and how it changed the way you look at coffee. Maybe there will be even a small group of readers who were with us from the beginning? Drop me a line at beata.s@coffeegeek.com
Last week we attended the Canadian Barista Championships in Vancouver and I was very happy to see Kyle Straw of Cafe Artigiano win. We will be cheering him on in June of next year in London, England, at the World's Barista Competition. Maybe 2010 will be the year for Canada.
Our sponsors have been supporting us all the way through and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to continue operating the site.
We have a few new partners on board. In the last couple of weeks GoCoffeeGo from San Francisco has launched and I invite you to visit them. Their colorful site will definitely make you smile plus you get to browse offerings from 12 great roasters, which include our friends at PT's Coffee, Ritual Coffee Roasters and Zoka.
We welcome back Espro, a Vancouver based company that specializes in one of a kind toroid pitcher as well as the Espro click tamper.
Illy has been our supporter for the past year and espresso machines such as Francis Francis or their beautiful collector espresso cups surely do not need an introduction.
Great Infusions is also back this fall with their assortment of espresso supplies.
We are very glad to have with us a Canadian company, Zcafe.
Some of the companies have been advertising on our site for a very long time and they are the reason why we are able to continue year after year. Please consider them the next time you are shopping around for new espresso machine and all other accessories.

Happy 8th, CG! You have definitely cleared the trail on my journey and connected many of us devotees to each other.
Several times over the summer, I wished I could've made the trip into the Lab (I am ~ 40 kms to the East), but wasn't able to swing it during the 'hours of operation.' The pics, tweets and website updates are all appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Cheers, Sean
P.S. I have both the Espro Toroid pitcher and click tamper (58 mm convex) - highly recommend them.
Their account creation screen doesn't even have an entry for Canada or any of the provinces, so I strongly doubt it. Would be good for us to be able to enjoy a great service like that, though! They could add Canadian roasters to their suppliers, maybe...

Hi Mike,
Here is reply from Scott at GoGoffeeGo: "Currently we only ship to the U.S., Alaska, Hawaii. As you know, the coffee is roasted and shipped direct from the roaster. The customs paperwork complicates the situation for the roaster. Due to the numerous inquires we are actively exploring shipping to Canada'.
Wish there was an easier way to expedite coffee at a reasonable cost. In the past we had some samples sent to us but with the delays in mail and customs between United States and Canada the coffee would start getting stale.

Thank for the followup. I had seen no Canada in checkout, but was hoping to see if other Canadian Geeks were asking for it, and let the business owners know their is a market for it if someone figures out the customs/shipping hurdles.
