Not sure whether I dare say this but, I think summer has finally arrived in the UK! Hooray! We've had three days of consecutive sunshine so far! It's forecasted to last all week too with highs of 22°C - now I know this won't seem hot to our friends in other countries, but trust me, this is practically tropical for us in blighty!
This sudden and most welcome turn in weather has got me thinking about barbeques again and I've pulled this recipe out of my archives. The coffee marinade brings out the flavour of the steak, combined with that smokey barbecue flavour, they're simply delicious. Hope you enjoy.
Ingredients serves 4 4 8oz steaks all cuts work well so whichever you prefer 225g fresh coarse ground coffee 115g black pepper Garlic salt to season Olive oil for brushing Worcestershire sauce for brushing
Method Mix the coffee and black pepper together in a mixing bowl. Brush each of the steaks on both sides with olive oil and Worcestershire sauce and season lightly with the garlic salt. Place each steak into the coffee and black pepper mixture and turn until thoroughly coated. Once all of the steaks have been seasoned, place in a large bowl, cover and leave to marinate for two hours. Sear the steaks on a hot barbeque (or grill pan) and cook to your liking.
Serve your steaks with crispy baked potatoes and barbequed corn on the cob. Delicious!
The great thing about this recipe is that it can be adapted to taste. Why not try a touch of chilli to give it an extra kick? Its entirely up to you, be creative and enjoy!
