Subject: BURN RELIEF RECIPES???

I just burned my hand during an improper inversion using an aeropress. About 1:30 off boil...

I've poured milk on it a few times and been putting a cold pack on it whenever the stinging comes back...
There's no blistering and only minor redness, but it's still pretty sensitive in a few spots.

I'm sure I'm not the first guy in the world to do something like this, so I was wondering..'

Do any of you out there have any home burn remedies to share?

Thanks so much...

ps. I made two more cups - post burn - and they were lovely...

Get an aloe plant.  Or buy one aloe leaf.  Seriously one of nature's wonder drugs.  Helped me every time.

I have a plant here that's odorless, but I used to find some variety in the Bay Area with enormous leaves that for some reason smelled like funky chicken.  It all works great.

Your post is old enough that you have likely healed up and will not be checking replies to this but I will post this in case others are curious.

Yes, there is an amazingly good burn remedy and I am surprised that I did not learn about it until recently - it does not seem to be widely known.

Pour regular soy sauce on the burn.  It does not sting, instead, it diminishes the pain right away (about 50-60%) and, as an added benefit, it reduces the amount of scarring after healing.  The best news, it is usually right at hand since most burns occur in the kitchen.

I'm pretty sure amazingly good burn remedies like this would be used in hospital burn units... surprise surprise they are not. Massive conspiracy against cheap effective medicine or lack of a substantive effect? You decide...

Then put some wasabi on top. Use hand topped with "burn relief recipe" to pick up portions of sushi and enjoy! Acceptable substitutions include chop sticks for burned hand.

Well, of course, burn units deal with burns of a vastly different nature.  The units find themselves fighting infections and shock due to loss of body fluids, first and second.  Pain control and healing come third and fourth, but they have narcotics for pain control, which are in short supply in my kitchen.  OMG, am I missing the humor in this?  Sorry.  I'm always the 'straight man'.

I am sure the issue is past by now but in my vocation, burns are a fact of life and no big deal.
Aloe is GREAT for burns, every home should have a plant in the garden / flower bed. Take a leaf from the plant, cut it in half so you have a slab of gooey leaf, slap it on the burn and keep it there until it stops hurting, likely a few changes of the leaf.

Yes, Aloe works well for burns. You can also try petroleum jelly. Works similarly well. Also, you can try putting ground coffee beans on the burned area. I tried it once out of curiosity and the coffee beans acted as dessicant so the burnt area did not blister at all.

Cooling is the major relief. Just run cold water over the burn as fast as you can. It palliates pain and helps to reduce the degree of the burn.
