Coffee from fresh-ground high-quality varietal beans, home-roasted to a FC to FC+ level, brewed using a non-espresso method.  Taken with a little sugar.  Brewing can be one of various kinds: Technivorm drip, moka-pot, vac pot, Aeropress.  Occasionally I'll add dairy cream or half-and-half, especially with the moka pot brews.  Will soon expand to include french press and Krups Mokabrew, but I don't have those available yet.  Hmmm, new furniture for my bare apartment, or new coffee brewer?  New backspash for my bare-walled kitchen, or new coffee brewer?

This is a change from what I was brought up on: canned pre-ground coffee brewed in a lower-temp generic drip brewer, mixed with non-dairy creamer and sugar.  The creamer and sugar was to soften the mostly bad flavor that couldn't be drunk black:  astringent, bitter, strong, sour, unbalanced, and without the concept or hope that black coffee could be a pleasant and nuanced drink.

either about 3 or 4 shots of espresso with an equal amount of milk. Basically a strong latte or a macciato by some standards or an americano, again 3 or 4 shots and not too much water. Splash of half and half.

Or just espresso.
