Some people, when you ask for it, come up with different names.  I have even heard it be called "Cowboy Coffee" (for the one shot w/coffee).

Heh heh.....

My Granny made real cowboy coffee and drank it all day with a roll your own bugle boy cigarette.

It was a thick muddy brown mixture of some canned coffee in a blue speckled pot, about 1/2 gallon, setting on the low heat side of a wood burning  cook stove. It was never emptied all day, just received a little more water or coffee as required. By dark it was really rank... but she loved it.

That, my friends, is no lie. I find a couple of cups of thick black coffee (even usually a couple of quick double shots) will clear ya.

At our shop we call it a Jump Start.  It's actually pretty popular.  People can choose whether to add one, two or three shots to their cup of coffee.  Another option if you love the taste of the espresso is to have an Americano.  It's just a shot of espresso with hot water added - gets it to a similar consistency of a cup of coffee, but has the taste of an espresso.  Oh the endless options . . .

We call it a depth charge because we're with the Navy and all.

At least in one of the shops I work at.

Be careful with that. It's delicious if you've got the right beans but it has a kick.

actually, the hammerhead is more well known as an iced drink.

the red eye is more popular for the shot in drip coffee.

Hammerhead is normally and iced coffee with a shot of espresso with torani chocolate syrup.
