Hi....
I just started blending my coffee. Can anyone out there give me a few pointers on blending coffee? Any good old standard blends available? Some of your favorite blends?

It depends on what the purpose of the blend is, is it for plunger, espresso, stove top? Is it for yourself? If it is then what coffee flavours, body and acidity do you like? Do you like a lighter blend or something with a bit more darker roasted?
For plunger coffee, try perhaps some PNG coffees and some Kenyan (not too much of this) or Tanzanian coffees.
Some people like to create a Mocha-Java blend, Mocha of course meaning chocolatey and Java meaning of Indonesian Origin. For this you will want some coffee from Ethiopia, I suggest Ethiopian Limu or Ethiopian Gemadro, these are two very chocolatey coffees, you could also use darker roasted Yirgacheffe. Limu means "lemon" in Arabic, and its aftertase is citrusy, but it's more of an orange taste, not really lemony. For the Java part, try perhaps a Sulawesi Toraja (Kolossi) or perhaps a Sumutran coffee, this gives body to the blend, both are relatively smooth, both have a lower acidity. Whilst the Ethiopians have about a low-mid body (depends on roast) and a mid to mid-high acidity. Overall you get a smooth chocolatey and perhaps citrusy tasting coffee with mid body, annd mid acidity, a very balanced coffee. The percentage is about 50-50 and you can change it to suit your preferences. Anyway, thats just an example, you might hate it, but give it a shot, if you have any Q's on specifics on coffee's from a certain region or how a blend might work out, just ask!
