Sorry I have been away for a while, I had some stuff to take care of and my plasma cutter hit the skids. Nothing to complain about though, it was over 20 years old, time and tech move on.

I wound up with this, a Hypertherm, Powermax 45. It is rated to cut 1/2" steel and will go to an inch and beyond.

LOTS of shopping but I stayed with the brand I had before. ALL U.S. made in the good ol U.S. of A! :D

Now to get the correct plugs for it all lined up to turn it on. It has apx 2.5 times the ability of my old machine and it is about 1/10 the size if not less!!

OK, I am stoked about it and I know few here will be even close if at all but hey, you guys are family!

I have about $1800 in it.

That's uber cool!  For you a great piece of equipment, but if I had one it would be a grown up toy :)

That's a nice unit! I wish I had one just like it.

I am shopping for a Millermatic 350P right now, find me one of those for $1800 and I will owe you one!

I was going to buy from them but found local rep to work with me.
I don't know how this ranks to what you found but it is worth a look anyway.

Thanks for the tip Wayne, their pricing is about as cheap as I have been able to find.

I would like to buy local, but when the price difference can be as much $800 higher, it makes buying online seem to be the better option.

I have looked at Baker in the past, they have a great selection of good equipment. I have never ordered from them but I may should this time.

Is it working OK?, it's 20 years old, I'm rather suspected

The machine it replaced was 20 years old, this one is brand new.

My welding class had one of these.. Not sure if it is the exact model but it was definitely a hypertherm (I recall the big red H on the side of the box).

Boy it was really fun to use.. It cut through 1/8" steel like butter.

It is kind of fun isn't it :D
Just "draw" with the torch and nearly as fast as you can move it, you have cut out, your "drawing" :D

This one is rated for 1/2" steel with a clean cut at 30 inches a minute. It WILL cut 1 inch and even more in exchange for slowing down your movement of the torch. It really is a cool tool!
