The point I actually wanted to make here is that...

This thread is getting to some sort of  therapy, airing session or something.  It's not a survey thread.

I honestly am getting tired of all of the critiquing. Seriously.

A moderator stepped in, a decision has been made. They've done their job. Let's respect those decisions and move on.

hmmm. i dunno, maybe to be able lecture the proprietor and moderators about how the bad the site is, confidently declare making the flight over to a competing site, while actually staying on to continue the benefits herein without being looked at as a complete hypocrite?   :)

Scotty, none of us long time CG'ers consider HB a "competing site." In fact, many of us (you should as well) lounge/read or post on HB. Both suites offer their own rewards, HB being an bit more espresso-centric. Dan Kehn and Mark communicate a LOT, especially when it comes to spammers, trolls, etc just to give each other a heads up.

Dan was a long time CG Moderator, as was Jim Schulman. I learned so much from those 2, especially Schulman, and continue to do so.
I think pretty much all members here need to know is that as long as we refrain from personal insult, you'll not see an restraints on conversation or moderator comment. Of course, it's always best to try to keep your comments relevant to the thread. If an OP feels his/her thread has been "hi-jacked" for several posts, a gentle "can we please get back on topic" from the OP is acceptable!

I admit I was just kind of annoyed by the idea of someone doing that (that being hiding behind a fake account so they can say such things).  I didn't put much consideration into my words. I do find both sites valuable and agree both sites offer different things.  It was more in the context of comment that I called it a "competing" site, given his statement of "making a flight over to H-B".  They are certainly not competing sites to users that visit both, including myself (my activity on both sites have been relatively equal).  And FWIW, thank you for your feedback.

fwiw that wasn't supposed to be a critique of the site -- quite the contrary, I feel like this all has been handled well. In the very first paragraph I even started by affirming the mods.

My point was from the perspective of a new member and relative outsider, and as such I felt like I had a somewhat unique comment to offer that hadn't been said yet. That comment was simply: debate, fast response, and high-engagement by members (even those with differing ideas) are actually an important part of a forum's ecosystem, so I don't think a system of a posting quota (as was presented earlier in this thread) or relegating that kind of conversation to PMs would be a good idea.

I was feeling quite objective and detached from the outcome at the time of writing. I'm not sure how that was providing me therapy or letting me air a grievance... maybe my intent was lost in the writing.

I didn't read his comment as anything directed at you, or anyone in particular, and made a conscious effort to limit my agreement to the part I left in the quote. As far as I'm concerned, I think your comments were valuable and contributory to the thread...and am glad you took it upon yourself to participate in this discussion. Having said that, I still believe what I wrote before...that only Mark Prince's perspective matters and that he doesn't have to explain himself here.  However, he chooses to explain himself and I do appreciate that and respect him for it.

Very well said. I totally agree. This is more or less what I was trying to get at... you said it better though.

Is it time for more coffee yet?

Whoa - what's up with the all caps?

Joking : )

I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
