Subject: Noob in the house

Imported to just outside Canada's Capital from southern Ontario. I grew up drinking coffee in various forms, and it was a major social event, much akin to social media for the kids nowadays. Instead of texting, we got together and drank coffee until we bounced off the walls.lol.  In a large Italian populated small city, I was raised on Mocha pots and espresso and as a camper, their was always camp fire instant brewed in washed out soup tins and the old percs. What ever form it took, the good the bad and the ugly remain very fond memories. Obviously through the years, I have come across many variations of the bean brew, and honourable mention much go to my buddy Lee, who many years ago introduced me to the hand ground pour over and eventually the home roast. It is this event which has kept me investigating the plethora of information out there, which in turn, frequently led me back to the site. Brilliant!, as with the few forums I belong to and frequent, the information and opinions here are vast and broad, which makes it worth it spending time.

So, all this to say, that I finally signed up due to my recent search for a new espresso machine which would be beyond the cheapo machines I have used of old.

The journey in coffee for me has been long. Coffee for me is more than just the taste, or the morning bounce. It is a form of relaxation to be enjoyed both alone and socially, and although I drink coffee benignly throughout the course of a day, my true joy is when I get to drink coffee for coffee's sake.

I look forward to learning and growing as I continue my journey, in search of the effortless stride.


PS.(not an ad push) but to date, save for the fond memories of many coffee adventures, my brass ring coffee was served to me in  Jan.2011 at the Alibaba Hookah Cafe in Kissimmee Florida. A turkish coffee that I have yet to duplicate or locate elsewhere in full since. I guess I may have to drive back down again.
