It's a bad idea in general to give medical advice on the internet.
It's even worse when you don't know what GERD is and you're trying to question a doctor's advice...

Yes I put the BDB and CC1 in the same class, yes i have a reason for leaving SCG off my list, yes it is my opinion, yes it is subjective as opinions are by definition, no don't start a flame war because you disagree.

And yes, drinking coffee may increase the risk of acid reflux and associated diseases in susceptible persons. Espresso usually contains less acid and tanning agents than drip coffee or French press, though, which tends to make it less noxious.

French press and espresso are the only brews I drink. I was starting my day with a 50 oz. press pot of French roast. The problem is the top of my esophagus is constantly irritated by regurgitated acid. She also prescribed omeprazole, but I'm starting with a little (obvious, I think) behavior modification before I go to prescription drugs.  Makes sense, right?

And in case you were concerned, the Black Cat is dialed back in, and I'm nailing it first shot again.  I know, we can all rest easy now....

Actually, IMHO both makes sense. Omeprazol is quite effective in reducing the hydrochloric acid production of your stomach, hence relieving not the reflux itself, but its acidity and therefore irritant properties. Personally, I'd take the medication until the symptoms have resolved, and modify my diet concomitantly.

Apart from that, enjoy your espresso. :-)

Thanks for the medical advice.  Don't you love the internet, where you can get a second opinion from an espresso-loving doctor in Germany? I'll call in the prescription on Monday.
