Hi all I cant seem to come up with any recipe that suits my tastes, No matter what I do I cant seem to get it right.
I ve been using a french press also without much sucess, Im getting my coffee from a local roaster but he is fairley new at it and I dont know if he knows what he is doing yet, My grinder is a Bodum Bistro, I have a scale and occasionally I get a great cup of coffee but usually the next one tastes like c--- I am so frustrated I dont know what to try next, my French press just broke so I am trying to decide whether to go with an Aropress or they have a new French press out but its kinda pricy or should I keep tryin with the Dripper. Please any suggestions would be appreiated -------- I need a good cup of coffee

It sounds like your coffee might be the source of your problems. Why don't you see if using a different roaster helps-like maybe ordering a five pound bag from Redbird. I mostly home roast but I have ordered from them a few times and it's always been wonderful. You can freeze what you can't use in a week in freezer bags or jars and take it out when you need it. This might help with consistency. I haven't been that fussy with the clever coffee dripper the way I am with espresso, I just measure it with scoop instead of weighing it, boil water in the microwave and let it come back off the boil before I pour it over the grounds. I do use a timer for four minutes, and then let it empty into a mug.

What do you think the problem was with your French press (before it broke)? I'm doing a big Bodum Fp every morning. Admittedly, it took me a few days to figure out how to get a good pot of coffee from it (it requires more coffee than you think), but now I don't even think about it.
What's the story with your press-pot coffee?
