for that matter, anything acid or base would go at the corrosion; just dilute afterward to stop it.
Hard thing about thermal gradient is you need enough mass to allow the differential just enough time to help. Or you need hot butane torch and already chilled down canned air stream for a quick tip off...
and this business about us radiation workers not being able to manage a simple job... I've got a list of 100 individual steps to go from point A to B;

Thanks for that last bit of advise. I'll have to keep it in mind for the future. For the grill project...well, I just use it too darn often to waste a weekend trying to preserve unnecessary screw holes. So I drilled 'em til the heads popped off when I got home this evening and changed out the burners - a 5 minute job. They aren't "secured" at that end, but in the grand scheme, it isn't important since the grill is built-in and won't be moved till it's time to replace it. Oh, and Coke, well, lucky me. We have the world's best vending machine in the physician lounge where I work. You push the button and the coke rolls out, Voila! No money needed. Of course, I usually go there hoping to find water bottles...lol

Yup! Grilled up some skirt steak the same night. That coke machine is awesome! Filled with all the usual suspects -all free - well, that's one way to try to keep us in the hospital
