HELLO!!! I'm new to CoffeeGeek :)  I was interested in reading the opinion of others, thought I'd swing by.  I do product reviews for a Top 3 consumer publication (which shall remain nameless for a variety of reasons, mostly so I can give my candid opinion without worrying if it gets back to the manufacturer :p)

I'm going to post a question in the (hopefully) appropriate section asking for some current opinions on a topic I've already searched on here.  I invite you all to jump in on the conversation!

Have a great week folks!

Maddie in Calgary here. New to the forum, and I'm new to making my own espresso. I was pulling some fantastic shots from my new Rancilio Silvia until I stated roasting my beans in my toaster oven. Something has gone very wrong since then. For the moment it's a mystery, but I'm getting frustrated at the moment.

Hi all, love coffee (tasting, history, ethics, economics etc) and wanted to introduce myself.

I recently launched my “Gio’s Coffee Diary” blog http://gioscoffeediary.wordpress.com/
Please let me know what you think, leave your comments, feel free to review cafes or coffee beans.

It includes reviews of different coffees from around the world, café reviews and tips about coffee tasting, preparation and cupping. Economics and ethics also feature very heavily and there are separate sections for each. Please feel free to let me know what you think, provide feedback or submit your own coffee and/or café reviews. Finally, check out the news stories on the “Blog Updates” tab which I update on an almost daily basis (you can subscribe if you like).

Look forward to talking coffee with you all.

Aloha,
I'm Cindy and looking to improve my morning coffee experience.  I have an Aeropress and just ordered the gold filter and some RedBird beans.  I need some help on my next big purchase - it sounds like it would be a grinder first, then an espresso machine.  I still long for the delicious European coffees experienced during my youth.  I'm thinking about the hand held grinder that fits inside an Aeropress - I don't need volume, just quality.
I live on the Big Island, and stay on the lookout for good Kona beans, many of which seem to have declined in qualify over the years.  I like some of the Ka'u coffee roasts.  I'm hopeful that some of you will help me to take the next big step, such that I can relive the memories of delicious morning brews.  I drink mostly black coffee, with an occasional weekend cappuccino.   Mahalos.

Hi Tim, thanks for the welcome.

I'm Australian, living in Canberra. I'm a trained, experienced professional barista, getting back into barista work after a few years away developing a flamenco dance school, so I'm glad I happened upon this site. I stand to learn an enormous amount from your members' posts.

We've come along way in Australia as far as espresso coffee making is concerned, but the true, passionate, responsible barista is still a rare animal. I think that could explain the appearance of those masking flavour syrups, LOL.

Nevertheless slowly, slowly, the tide is rising and lifting all boats...

Hello,
I finally decided to sign up after two plus years of visiting the website. I love testing out new coffee shops, my morning Aeropress or French press and am looking to purchase an espresso machine while upgrading my entry level Baratza grinder. Hopefully I can get the help I need.

Hello!  My name is Dusty, and I'm in Dayton, OH.  I was a barista for a few years before I ever got into espresso at home.  In my last couple of years, I have dabbled around with a Rancilio Silvia and got some great results after a lot of perseverance.  I now love to create latte art for friends, and invite them to experience the amazing journey that is coffee.  Cheesy, yes.  Amazing, yes.
I just got my first HX machine (Cuadra II) and am ready to dive in a bit more into the art of pulling that perfect shot.  I'm very grateful to have such an amazing website around that will help me develop my skills, so thanks in advance!
