Greetings!
I was a professional cook for a number of years before I got pulled over to the dark side of F&B, coffee! I now work for a roaster based out of Seattle, although I live in the San Francisco bay area. I'm fortunate to find myself traveling the country tasting and talking coffee, as well as fixing and maintaining machines.
I originally came to coffeegeek.com to educate myself, I found way more information than I could have imagined.

My name is Donny Morrison. I am a master barista from Los Angeles with over 13 years experience behind the bar, the last 8 of those in the specialty coffee world. I have created my own style of latte art (http://www.facebook.com/DonaldMorrisonCoffeeArt) as well as been doing what I am calling Espresso Mixology out of the cafe I work out of in Valley Village called Steampunk Coffee Bar. I have worked in many cafe's, Helped open a few, participated in competitions and gone to countless Coffee expo's. I absolutely love coffee, and I have very much respect for any and all that are doing it right, and hope and anticipation for those that are just beginning and or trying! Can't wait to bump into fellow coffeegeeker's in amazing cafe's around the world! Thanks for having me.

I am new and just joined! I've been fantasizing about buying a high quality espresso machine for several years now. I found this website a few years ago, and after much scrimping, and much research, today I purchased a machine and grinder. I'm so appreciative for everyone's thoughtful and thorough reviews. I hope to be posting some soon once I receive my new machine. Thanks everyone!

Espresso: Delonghi EC155, Gaggia... Grinder: Baratza Preciso on the way Drip: Cuisinart

My wife got me a Delonghi EC155 a few years ago, and I've used it OCCASIONALLY, until recently. For the past 2 months or so, I've been pulling shots (picked that term up here  ) every morning and again after dinner. Since I had no idea what i was doing I googled and found this site. After reading as much as I could about the machine I have, mods available and what it can do, I've found that what I was doing originally was probably frowned upon and I won't expose it here  . Anyway, I removed the pressurized portafilter and have been getting better results. But, as I continued to obsessively read, I pulled the trigger on a Gaggia Classic and Baratza Preciso. I'm looking forward to learning how to use them and hopefully getting a lot better quality drinks. I do have a local beanery that I have to visit along with a few places in a warehouse district nearby. I went back and forth on the machine and grinder. The Sylvia and CC1 were close runners up. As far as grinders go, it came down to the Preciso and the Rocky. I'm sure any would have been good choices, but after going thru all the minutia, it lead me to the Classic and Preciso. Hoping to be able to contribute in the future and learn currently. Great site and great info.

You are getting to the right place, in fact, I have been knowing little about such kind of things, since I can here, work (previously coming here due to work) and joy to learn as much as possible for the coffee gadgets!

First of all, it's great to have this site. My wife and I are big coffee drinkers. I am also a Passalacqua on my mother's side. I was curious if any of the readers here have tried the Passalacqua coffee. I note that it is from the Naples area and my family is from the North of Italy. If anyone has tried Passalacqua coffee please let me know what you think of it.

Hey new to the forum, and the more I read the newer i realize i am. I feel as though my coffee drinking experience is the process of rebirth. My background, I grew up in Mexico where the only coffee I knew was instant powder. Moved to the states, where my stepdad, an auto worker, swore by industrial same club sourced cans of what I now consider floggers droppings. Once in my teens, I succumbed to the hype of syrup laden concoctions from crackbucks; that turned into seeking new beans from small local shops, but as my cravings grew i ran into the problem of what to do when I am wanting to enjoy a cup in my house. Still in the dark, I found the cusinart grind and brew. Still a massive improvement over folgers/bunn combo and I still use it on occasion. Enter my new obsession, the Chemex. It's as if someone switched my 32" crt tv when i blinked with a 75" HD television. It's elegance exemplified. Simple, consistent, and only as good as its user. I love the process, the setup, the steps. I now understand the importance of using temperatures, digital scales, etcetera. I've joined this forum because I am thirsty for knowledge, and am ready to start exploring what coffee can be. I am contemplating an at-home roaster, and a new drip machine. I am in love with my hario skeleton, but will eventually get an electric grinder. Anyway, ll be seeing you guys around.
