I've decided to stop lurking after seven or so years and say hello! I've found CG incredibly useful, educational, and entertaining over that time.
I had liked espresso-based drinks, but it wasn't until about ten years ago when I started at a job that had a Linea (if memory serves me correctly) in the breakroom. Since then I've had the pleasure of using a handful of commercial class machines (Unic, Gaggia, ...) and began my own home espresso journey about five years ago. Ever since the first day making my own espresso, I was hooked on the process. Since then, my experience has evolved as I've learned, followed/spurned the various trends and fads, and developed my own taste preferences.
I'm looking forward to trying to contribute back even a fraction of what I've gotten out of CG!

HELLO COFFEE FOLKS. MY NAME IS MIKE G I AM FROM ALEXANDRIA BAY NY IN THE HEART OF THE THOUSAND ISLANDS. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL SUMMER BOATING RESORT. HERE IS THE REASON I JOINED COFFEE GEEK. I OPENED A COFFEE SHOP AND IT DID NOT WORK THE WAY I THOUGHT. THE CUSTOMERS ONLY WANTED A TRADITIONAL CUP OF COFFEE. I HAD BOUGHT A BRAND NEW SUPER AUTOMATIC EXPRESSO MACHINE. AND PAID THROUGH THE TEETH. NOW... I DO NOT NEED IT. IT IS HARDLY USED AT ALL IT MUST BE ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD. SO IF ANYONE WANTS TO BUY A SCHAERER AMBIENTE SUPER AUTOMATIC EXPRESSO MACHINE. WELL, I HAVE ONE FOR SALE. IF YOU HAVE A USE FOR IT, PLEASE DROP ME AN EMAIL. MIKE@DRUMAPARTMENTS.COM

Hello, Yes, I am new to CoffeeGeek. Burning desire to know all there is to know about making the best Expresso. My head is swimming. So much to learn. Purchased a Gaggia Classic, only to find that it didn't get any power. Company sent me another machine, same problem. Question that I MUST be doing something wrong, what are the chances of that occuring with both machines, but my husband insists both machines are defective. Will contact Gaggia. If they are both in fact defective, then I don't want another. Will order a better machine. So glad to have a forum to share my obsession with expresso.

A bit off topic, but...if you like pastries, be sure to check out suncakes. Not all suncakes/pineapple cakes are created equally so, try a few of each before you give up :-)
Pastries are a known weakness. LOVE suncakes! Someone brought some into work one day, I took two, dropped one on the way back to my desk, and it exploded it's flaky goodness in a 5 foot diameter circle upon impact. Yes, well, I've embarrassed myself worse than this, unfortunately.
Suncakes are actually one of my favorite pastries here. There is another place that makes good pineapple and also cranberry cakes that aren't swimming in outer crust.
If you're in Taiwan I'll buy or make you a coffee!

Hello all,
I'm new to the club, but not so new to coffee. Could say I'm an addict, but I prefer to think of myself as obsessed (geekwannabe). I'm still no expert by any means, but I continue to experiment and pursue better coffee experiences. I appreciate the knowlege and advise that you provide here. Thanks.

EV,
Welcome to CG! What kind of coffee drinks are you into.? What gear do you have? I've been doing espresso at home for oh, about 10 years (did primarily drip and FP for many years before that). I've been pretty active on here for the past year and a half, although I looked on here occasionally for years before that)...and I learn and improve all the time. There are some really knowledgeable people here!
