Subject: Anyone know anything about LA Lakers memorabilia?

I'm hoping someone might be able to help point me in the right direction here.

My girlfriend raises money for charity and someone donated a vintage LA Lakers jacket for her to sell/auction.  She has no idea what to ask for it so I'm trying to get some info to help her set a price (or we could always see what eBay brings).

Anyway ... it is a purple (inside and out) satin, quilted jacket with Magic Johnson's #32 on one sleeve and "1987 Championship" on the other sleeve.  LA Lakers across the back and the Lakers basketball patch on the front. NBA logo on the side.  Size XL and in mint condition.

I've googled many sports memorabilia sites and eBay (current and completed) and haven't seen anything quite like this one (some that looked close but without the patches on the sleeves).  The person donating it said he bought it 25 years ago when he was living in LA - so it isn't a reissue.

thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas.

If you lived in southern California, you could take the jacket down to Frank and Son's and get a rough estimate from one of the vendors.  To be honest, those jackets rarely hold any monetary value, except for the collector/owner.  However, if the jacket is a limited item or collectible, then it COULD possibly be worth something, but I wouldn't be able to give you a price.

I've personally dealt w/ the owner of Hall of Fame Sports store and you can email him a picture of the jacket, and he can possibly give you a rough estimate.

Hope that helps.

Vintage 1987 Championship jacket, what a jacket that would be. I think it'd be worth more because of sentamality than monetary value. I think you can look on Ebay,  Craigslist or Groupon to see what the asking price is. I think the jackets are something there. Do you have any idea of what you're going to ask for it?
