Hmm, I just caught my first... or maybe second... episode of Castle this week and I didn't notice an espresso machine.
I was watching the BBC series Chef! on Netflix, though, and noticed that there's a French Press in just about every episode. I loved it when Chef stuffed a cell phone and cigar from two rude customers in the press and started plunging.

I loved that episode. After Castle's memorable comment that the precinct coffee tasted "like a monkey peed in battery acid", he later shows up with this huge box. I knew right away what that was, and best of all it turned out (as mentioned above) to be a big commercial two-group La Spaziale (a brand which was on my short list of most desirable).
However, in that episode and later (in season 2), they have close ups of pulling a shot and steaming milk. Both times, the coffee runs out of the machine like brown water, and the milk bubbles up in a scalded mess. Aside from the bad image that is sending to the viewing public, they probably paid quite a sum for that machine. (They took pains to avoid showing the brand, so it's apparently not a placement.) Don't they use the thing for real? If they are pulling shots like that, they are going to taste like... well... like a monkey peed in battery acid.
