Just found out about this place a couple weeks ago when I became interested (again) in espresso. I worked as a barista at an independent shop for about four years back in the day so have pulled my fair share of shots. Living in Seattle the last few years so figure it's a good place to be able to take advantage of local roasts.
Didn't know squat about home espresso till I started doing research here. Have an Ascaso I-Mini Grinder and now am searching for the perfect machine. Can't justify a huge expenditure now so I'm looking for a used SL70, Gaggia, Silvia or Le'Lit for a sub-$300 price.
I can't wait to start pulling quality shots in our home. Stoked.

Hi Everyone, I'm relatively new to the site but with the help of the members and postings here I've gone from a toy espresso machine (Lello 1375) to soon to receive Expobar HX in a month ;). I can't wait to brew some quality espresso at home...

Hello. I guess I'm just a regular guy who found an interest in good coffee. Most of you would probably consider me a hack with pro equipment. My skills progress on a daily basis. I can tune every ounce of power or efficiency into your internal combustion machine but, pulling a nice shot is a skill I have yet to master. I hope to find guidance in my quest and maybe impart some knowledge to others as it becomes available to me.

Hello folks, I love all kinds of coffee and the many ways it's made. My recent purchase, Bunn VP17-2 stainless, because I seem to replace makers every year, and this is built like a tank! I love this site, has lots of good info with nice people sharing.

Hi!
I'm Rodrigo, From NYC.
I've been drinking almost only turkish coffee for quite a long time, but now that I've moved to NYC I'm all into moka. I recently bought a Brikka and I'm loving it. I've been having problems finding a good roaster in around East Village / NYU area. I'm also looking for a good grinder (under $100, preferably less).

I cannot decide (as a new member) whether CG is alive and well, moribund, or reviving after a pause.
There seem to be many more posts dated 2007 than 2009; I have seen some comments about a "new CG"; the useful Glossary does not appear to be complete (e.g. PID crops up in several articles, but is not defined)...
I'm therefore loath to write much until I find out whether this is a ghost site or not. For now, suffice it to say that my pressing interest is to be ready for the final demise of my 21-year old semi-automatic...
If I get a reply to this, I can provide more info, or may simply post some more questions.
Finally (for now) is there a UK sub-chapter of CG as so much of this seems aimed at North American consumers of the hallowed ground?

Hi all.
I have been lurking for a couple of weeks - joined recently to answer a post. I live in Wellington, NZ.
I am completely new to the Espresso hoby, but in a couple of weeks I have started producing shots I have never before experienced or though possible (with the help of this site amongst others).
I have started a blog that outlines my faltering steps in the (to me) new world of Espresso, if you feel like commenting on the video I took of my 2nd ever decent shot, etc. you can find it at http://coffee-stuff.blogspot.com/ I would appreciate any comments - but my the shot (and the ones since) was tasty in a way I never thought possible.
I intend to participate in this forum, so I guess I'll see you all around from time to time.
