Espresso: Grindmaster 2450
Posted Wed Sep 16, 2009, 7:32am Subject: Re: New to CoffeeGeek? Welcome, introduce yourself!
Hello all, I'm Greg aka Moppie. I've been a ritual daily home brewer (using older manual Krupps) for the past 15yrs. I obtained a Grindmaster 2450 with intentions of fixing it up and starting a little shop. But I've been too busy and ADD to stay on task. Now it's for sale. I will always spin a Capp or two as the sun rises. Thanks for letting me in.

Hi All,
I was 33 years old before I started drinking coffee. My first espresso came to me in Moscow Russia (I live in Canada) while I was traveling with a friend who was an espresso junkie.
I decided to give it a shot, so to speak, and here I am 2 years later. After returning from my trip I bought a french press and grinder and have been experimenting with beans, grind, and water temp. to figure out my preferences.
After 2 years of research on pressed coffee I'm ready to move on to a home espresso machine. I'm looking into a lever machine and I'm looking forward to the learning curve.
I'm not addicted to coffee (in fact I sometimes go weeks without it), but when I do have it I appreciate the complexities/flavours. I have a fairly sharp pallet, and love exploring wines...coffee and espresso have been the same way.

Hi!
I'm in Brazil and I have a lot of contact with coffee like a hobbie. I'd like to work with coffee as a long term project, right now, I need my monthly salary of my job (nothing to do with coffee, sorry). I already did some courses of coffee Classification and Tasting. It is a pleasure to be here and I'd like to thank you for the opportunity. Just to contribute with some interesting information: Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer of the world and the second consumer market. I have a lot of questions about coffee, but I have a good classification experience, if you need some help, I'm at your disposal. Best Regards,

Hi Tim,
I'm new to this web site and new to large forums. I would like to write a new post on a new subject, that being the art and science of using the I-Roast 2. I can't find a post about this and even if I could, I think it would take a long time. I don't see a link to do this. I see a link to view new posts by others but nothing that says "write or add a new post". What am I doing wrong?

Hi all, I love my morning americano, absolutely can't live without it. Theres a great coffee shop in Mission i go to, they pull a nice shot and are staffed with chilled out good people. wasn't really thinking about a home espresso machine until I was in an antique shop in the fraser valley a couple days ago and spotted an interesting hammered brass cylinder with an eagle on top. Turns out it's on older la victoria arduino venus. picked it up for 100 bucks. polished it up and started playing around with it. turns out it works pretty dam nice. So now, like other hobbies in my life i'm a bit obsessed. I want learn how to make a perfect shot every time, so thought i'd do some reading and maybe find out a bit more about what i'm doing.
Why aren't they're any reviews on this machine? Are they junk or something?

Espresso: LM GS/3, Reneka Techno V1,... Grinder: Mazzer Mini E

Ciao everyone! I've had a 20-year love affair with coffee that only grows stronger. I'm a specialist, a practiced home barista, who's eager to get back in the game after pulling way to many doubles from a nearby friend/cow-orker/espresso fiend's Techno V2 (while mine sits naked and broken next to it, hiding under towels even). No, I'm not (just) doing it to out-do him, although that will be an awesome bonus. I had no idea he was such a competitor...and what jealousy (I kid)!
For years I've used communities like CG to research technique, coffee, grinders and espresso machines. But, this is the first time I've contributed to just such a forum. Either I'm finally ready to participate in a community forum with my number one hobby, or I'm just doing what I can to kill the vast expanse of time between now and next Tuesday when I finally get a (working) espresso machine back in my kitchen.
Let's go with the former.
I'm also excited to get out of my Dolce rut and see what else is out there. I tried a local roast and was quite pleased with the quality but only had a few pounds to experiment with. Never got around to tweaking brew temperature, so there may be room for improvement.

Espresso: Gaggia Baby Class Grinder: Baratza Virtuoso
Posted Fri Sep 25, 2009, 11:58am Subject: Re: New to CoffeeGeek? Welcome, introduce yourself!
We bought a DeLongi Bar 32 a few years ago to experiment. Now we have taken the leap and i just ordered what I certainly hope to be a decent step up, to a Gaggia Baby Class and a Baratza Virtuoso Coffee Grinder. Still awating their arrival. If anyone has any suggestions on where to set the grinder (of course fine tuning to our personal taste is obvious), or tips on our new machine and grinder, please let me know!
