I'm going to be in Nashville for five days for a convention. at the Nashville Convention Center. Any suggestions for good espresso in that neck of the woods or near Music Row?
Yes....on "Music Row"..Demonbreun St....a place called "Caffeine"...they pull shots with Malabar Gold...the cappas are good, the straight shots OK...decent food, occasional music people, musicians, etc....10 minutes from the convention center Portland Brew, on 12th, about a mile and a 1/2 South of Wedgewood...west side of street...they roast their own coffee....fine espresso, decent food.... And just down the block from Portland Brew is the Frothy Monkey....excellent food, espresso drinks from LaVazza beans...great people watching...all 3 have some outdoor seating and free wireless net
Thought I'd resurrect this thread, as I haven't found a recent one through the search tool...
I've been going to Nashville for a few days every summer to get together with some friends for a seminar downtown (in a church near the museum - near Broadway and 7th). Last summer, a couple of us went to the Dunn Brothers near the church. They roast in house, and when I ordered my cappa, the barista asked me if I preferred american or italian style. My cappa was great. I didn't order any straight shots, and unfortunately only made it there only the one time.
I'll be back this summer, last weekend of July. Are the places mentioned above still in business and have they made any improvements? Are there any other places to check out?
Hey, Jonathan!...and Ron... I'm here in Brentwood...chat me up sometime. I have a couple of CG/HB friends here. We purchase green together, etc. Back on topic, there's another place in E.Nashville called Barista Parlor. Here is a Facebook Link. http://www.facebook.com/BaristaParlor
Apparently they have coffees from 3-4 different well known roasters. They also have a SLAYER. Pour-over and slow drip also. Closest thing to a "3rd wave" cafe around here....and it's fairly huge.
For Ron's benefit, Brentwood is a suburb adjacent to Nashville, about 15 minutes South of Music row/downtown. Crema IS a very nice cafe.
I had looked up where Brentwood was a few weeks ago when I noticed it as your location...so, I was actually hoping to see your reply here. I had thought of just sending you a private email, but thought it would be nice to have your reply public, in case others were interested in it too.
