Posted Sun Jul 28, 2013, 11:27am Subject: Vibiemme Domobar Super HX + PID SOLD!!
Vibiemme Domobar Super HX espresso machine for sale. One of the best prosumer machines available, and a real beauty to look at and work with. This unit has been outfitted with an Auber PID on the boiler, which provides excellent temperature stability and brewing control. Updates and improvements include boiler insulation, new vibe pump, safety valve, portaflter handle, and latest control module for the PID. All recent work was done locally by the technicians at De Luca's in Winnipeg. The machine was backflushed daily and cleaned regularly.
Known issues: the machine pulls an excellent shot, but lately the brew pressure has been less consistent, varying from 8-9 bars though dropping lower if the grind is not right. The pump was replaced a couple of weeks ago and is working perfectly, but the fluctuation remains. This looks like a very simple issue to address (new OPV spring perhaps?), but I'd rather let someone else with more experience/time/handiness deal with it, and my price (in US$) has been lowered accordingly. Also, the lever needs to be lifted slightly to release residual pressure after a shot. There is no pop or puff or mess when the portafilter is released, and so there can't be much pressure still in the system, and there seems to be no effect on the quality of the shot. Again I suspect the issue is a minor one (a new spring/piston for the drain valve?), but I wanted to be as clear as possible in my description of the VBM's functionality. As I say, if the grind is right the machine makes a superb shot of espresso, and its steaming power is excellent.
I don't have the original box for the VBM, and so would prefer a local sale. I will ship at the buyer's expense, however, and will do my best to pack everything well. Interested buyers are welcome to drop by for a shot before purchasing. Price includes single, double, and bottomless portafilters as well as an English operating manual.

Hi folks. A couple of bits of news concerning my VBM. Most importantly, I've just got the unit back from De Luca's, where they replaced the OPV. This seems to have sorted out the fluctuating pressure issue, and I am attaching a picture of a shot I pulled shortly after getting the machine home. Also, I have decided to lower the price of Domobar since I have already replaced it and I now just want it out of the house. My new selling price is $850 plus shipping. Although obviously since I don't have the original packaging I'd prefer to sell locally, and anyone interested would be welcome to come over to pull a shot before purchasing. Like all higher-end machines the VBM requires a properly fine grind, but as I say it has been working well since I got it back from the shop.
Do let me know if you have any questions. As far as I know the PID can be removed and the unit restored to original operating spec without any difficulty, if one has an aesthetic preference in that regard. But for me the temperature stability and control made keeping the PID a no-brainer.

This is a fantastic machine and a great price people. I paid almost triple without the added PID (bought new locally). It has the largest E61 TS group as designed by Faema. If it wasn't for the shipping I'd buy it too!
