Expobar Office Control.

- Heat Exchanger machine
- Part of the exclaimed Office family of machines from Expobar
- Control means that it includes electronics for programmable dosing of espresso; there are 4 programmable buttons and a fifth for manual dosing.

- Machine is in excellent condition (very carefully used and maintained)
- It was exclusively used with filtered water
- It was fully descaled (in fact, very minimal scale build up was found but descaling was performed nonetheless; our water is pure snowmelt and any lime present, which is minimal and mandatory, is added at treatment facility)
- The grouphead gasket was just replaced

- Machine includes a portafilter with a double shot (14g) basket
- A blind basket for back-flushing (the machine has a built in back-flush cycle accessed by pressing the middle dose button when powering the machine)
- A 58mm tamper (convex)
- A metal shot glass
- A knockbox (missing the bar)

The machine is in excellent condition.  It was just retired as I caught the bug and purchased an Astra.

I prefer local pickup, of course, but I am happy to ship.  Shipping will be charged actual rate (I will box it up at my own expense).  I highly recommend insurance and will ship only at buyer's discretion if they chose not to purchase insurance.

Hi Michael,

A few quick questions about the machine:

  1. Are you the first owner? How old is the machine?
  2. Do you have to descale professionally or can you do it yourself?
  3. Is it easy to purchase parts and other pieces for the machine (bottomless portafilter, etc..) online?

Sorry if these questions are basic, I've not owned an HX machine or looked at Expobar before.

Thanks in advance!

Mark

I am the second owner of the machine.  I have purchased it in December of 2011.  It was used for several years before me acquiring it.
The previous owner took meticulous care of it and in preparation for sale replaced the pump, pressure switch and boiler safety valve as well as updated the OPV to the latest type.  All those items are in tip top shape.  I have recently fully descaled the machine (and I can report minimal buildup due to very low lime content of the water in my area) and I have installed a fresh grouphead gasket.

Both me and the previous owner have run the machine on a timer.  In both cases it turned on at 6:30am and turned off by 11am.  It averaged 4hrs and 30min of on time per day (minus the times we have traveled when the machine stayed off for prolonged periods of time).

The machine can easily be descaled by the owner.  It has a built in water tank so all that needs to be done is the descaling solution needs to be placed in the tank and sucked into the boiler where it needs to rest a bit before being flushed out.

The machine has a E61 type grouphead so practically any 58mm portafilter will work.  The innards are very standard and relatively inexpensive to replace as well.  It is a very well supported brand and most spares and information is available at www.wholelattelove.com as well as on numerous internet forum.

I came to the machine from a PID'd Rancilio Silvia and this Expobar has made a consistently better coffee not to mention it opened up the door to milk drinks since it can steam while brewing without any prolonged delays of switching between steaming and frothing on single boiler machines.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the information.  Would you be able to email me (I can't find your email)?  My email is in my profile.

Thanks,
