This is a completely refurbished La Marzocco Linea Single Group Espresso Machine. I worked on it for over a year, tearing it down to the frame, cleaning, descaling, degreasing and polishing every part before putting it back together. Any part that was worn was replaced with OEM parts direct from La Marzocco USA.
Asking / Suggested Price: 3250.00

Hello Would like to sell the Linea for a fair price. Please let me know what "fair" is. I know what I put into it, but my value isn't everyone's value.
I also have an SJ grinder to sweeten the deal so there's literally nothing to buy but the beans.

First, Steve, congrats on the beautiful rebuild. In some ways, I find these to be far more impressive desirable than new machines, if only because of how much care and attention one feels certain was put into the project.
Second, building on your last point, I, too, would wonder about how the price scales for a project like this.
Some considerations:
- A new machine runs somewhere around $6900. A new GS/3 runs somewhere around $6500, depending on options. As far as I can tell from these forums, the going rate for a used GS/3 is somewhere around $3700-$3900. Consequently, one might expect something like $4000 for the Linea, ceteris paribus.
- Obviously, though, this isn't just any used Linea. But how does that affect value? On the one hand, Steve's improvements clearly add value (Fuji PID, etc.). On the other, the machine is almost 25 years old. Everyone knows the stories about machines this old that are still running great. But surely, at a quarter century, machines like this, rightly I think, put buyers on edge.
So, can anyone give any advice on how significant rebuilds affect value? What adds? What detracts? To what degree should we consider age? Etc. etc. All in service, of course, of figuring out a good offer price on this machine ;)

Aaron: Thank you.
This isn't any old espresso machine. Aside from the tanks and the tubing almost everthing else on this Linea has been replaced. I followed Paul Pratt's work and had several discusions with him about my work. The pressure safety valve is brand new and the steam relief valve is brand new. There is an entire box of pieces and parts that I've kept for posterity that come with the machine.
