For Sale: an Obel Junior grinder, manufactured by Ervino Bregant. 50mm flat burr, 100 watt, modified with an internal timer hardset to ~11 second grind, which seems to work out to between 9-10 grams, depending on the coffee. The hopper is not original, but a commercial sized hopper with a sliding stop at the throat. Stepped adjustment (42 steps, I believe), that seems flexible enough to dial in pretty well for all the coffees I've tried in it so far. Doser sweeps very clean and the short chute from the grinding chamber is easy to brush out - I was averaging minimal wastage and a 2-3 second pulse was always enough to clear things out.

I'm including a spare burr set, since I bought it when I got the grinder, only to discover the existing burrs were in excellent shape. It uses the same burr set as the Rocky and the Bezzara BB0004 (which is, afaik, the same grinder rebadged with slight cosmetic differences).

This would be a good grinder for somebody on a budget who wants a grinder that can handle good espresso. I've pulled some fine shots with this, both on the Caravel and on my new Ellimatic, including some coffees that have a reputation of being difficult to dial in, like some of the lighter Handsome roasts. Just finishing up a bag of Scout's Honor, and the Obel was fully capable of grinding for the fruit and citrus peel notes of this blend without going sour.

Buyer pays UPS Ground (or equivalent) shipping. I'll cover packing and handling. Grinder is about 12 lbs, so shipping weight will probably run about 15 lbs. Or, of course, local pickup in the Los Angeles area or out Thousand Oaks way, as I work out there.

I'm selling this because I'm taking the opportunity to upgrade to a Gaggia MD-85 that was offered here on the forum.

<bump> for a grinder that would be a nice step up from a capresso or any other not-quite-espresso-fine burr grinder.
