I'm looking to buy an extra portafilter handle and basket for my Elli machine. I believe the size is 58mm but am not sure about how to go about measuring for this. Naked is fine but I would rather do that for myself as a cracked unit would be no good to me.

Hi, the Elli uses a non-standard portafilter. Its 58mm, but its shallower to allow for the limited cup room under the grouphead. An alternative is the portafilter form a NS beach machine, but they're just as hard to find! You can use a standard e61 portafilter, but you'll have to grind/dremel the ears down to suit the elli group. And you can't use it with spouts, unless you use very small cups.Good luck

Hey there, good to see another Elli owner!  I bought 2 of them in the last 2 months, 1 for home and 1 for the office.  After giving up on finding a backup PF to modify bottomless, I ended up picking up 2 Reneka commercial PFs cheap and modified the tabs.  Even the standard double basket is probably 30% bigger than our standard one, but these are easily deep enough for a triple basket.  But the lip of the baskets are a slightly different dimension than the original PF, so I get some leaking and also strange twisting of the group gasket.  I have a feeling I'll need to order a taller/wider gasket when I want to make the switch to these.  The machines make such good drinks, I'm just being content for now and making them more often :)  If you ever want to chat Ellis, my ben is Ben Piff on Facebook, and my email is benpiff at gmail
Good luck!
ben
