Tyler a question regarding the audrey, there are some folks saying that it has a teflon coated boiler (on the inside i think), is this true for the unit you have? have you heard if others have a teflon coated boiler?

Hi there,

The portafilter on this Audrey is teflon coated (as I think many are/were), the outside of the boiler is brass.    I can't confirm the inside of the boiler, but I'm pretty sure it is not teflon coated.

Hope that helps,

Tyler

The boiler is solid marine grade brass.

They are. The old Nancy, Audrey, Silvia, etc., (1998 - 2000 or something like that) were Teflon coated inside. My Rancilio Miss Silvia 2001 isn't. I know as I have an old style boiler replacement version 1.0 that you could replace the heating element on & it's Teflon coated internally.

I have one of these and adore it as it has high entertainment value with guests and the coffee is amazing. But, as with so many of these units, I had to modify the base to operate a little "illegally" and I can't find a replacement anywhere. Yours is unmodified?

CraigA,

Thanks for the info.  I will have to double check the serial number, but I am certain that this Audrey is pre 2000, meaning it does have the teflon coating.

Cafediva,

Yes, the Santos is unmodified.  I have not cut or altered the stem of the top portion of the vac pot.

Thanks for the information all, are you saying that its possible to replace the boiler on a teflon coated audrey/nancy (i think they are the same product with different names), with a non teflon coated one?  wonder how much this costs?

Please check my posts P B (mediaglyphic), I've researched this & posted pics, links & prices more than a few times.

Big bucks at the Greenbeanery, a lot cheaper at 1st-line, but they don't ship to Canada (unless a person was a former customer before the policy change). This may or may not have changed as I haven't looked in a long time..

Once again: Rancilio Silvia Brass Boiler Click Here (www.greenbeanery.ca)  $185.96

Rancilio Silvia Boiler Adapter Kit Click Here (www.greenbeanery.ca)  $79.95

Boiler Kit for the Silvia Click Here (www.1st-line.net)  Retail: $150  Your Price: $124.95  Included are the conversion parts for only $5 more, over just the stand alone boiler @ $119.95!

Audrey update:

Okay, so the serial number on the bottom of the machine reads:  866932

I also have the original instruction manual which has a more useful number:  Mod. 46-900-006   9/93

My best guess, then, places the machine's birth in 1993 with a teflon coated boiler.

Despite it's 17 year age, it is still quite clean and fully functioning : )
