Hi there, am looking for a naked portafilter for my livia 90 to help hone my techniques....anyone out there have a cheap spare that you can part with?

Also, have heard that the La Marzocco double baskets work better than the stock livia ones, so i guess is anyone wants to sell one of those, i'm interested as well.

reply to this post or email me direct: oka-road-mail-@-yahoo.-com (remove hyphens)

Thanks for reading

I got my bottomless from Chris' and didn't have the greatest luck with it. The basket sat higher than the bottom of the portafilter and I got some significant spray from it. Both the Pasquini and the LM triple baskets are just about flush with the bottom...a dbl basket sits almost 1/4" higher than the bottom. Just incase you're thinking about going that route.
Don't believe what you read about the LM dbl basket being better than the stock Pasquini. I took that road as well after reading the same posts. The LM dbl is actually shallower than the Pasquini...AND...it's ridged. My experience with the Livia...has taught me that the best filter basket to use...is the one you use all the time.
Just my two cents.

Walt

walt, thanks for the advice.....being a livia owner (or maybe past owner), with the stock double basket, how much head space is there after you tamp? if i level off the double basket and tamp, the grounds still touch the shower screen when i lock the portafilter in (which is apparently bad).

when i tried to remove enough grounds such that there was no contact, the basket was just over 1/2 full...which was not enough coffee for a double (not to mention the puck was blown to smithereens and stuck to the shower screen after i pulled the shot).  that's why i was considering the LM baskets, but it sounds like there is no significant benefit there.

i guess i need to figure out my dosing with the stock baskets, though i still think a naked PF would be a good learning tool.
