Is there a way to narrow down the return on a search. I think the + sign should mean "and" but it seems to working as an "or". Everytime I do a search with 2 words I get nearly 30 000 hits. Is there a way to narrow this down. Other than the exclude feature using the minus sign I don't know how else to get a good search return.

I tried my search with google. It didn't really help. I tried all of the boolean operators on the website. I tried with quotes. Nothing seems to narrow down the hits. For example, I was searching discussions on Portafilters. I got almost 30 000 hits. when I added another word with the plus sign I got even more hits. I wanted to see discussions regarding whether it is safe to use a portafilter that has been dulled in the dishwasher. After many futile searches I posted a question on the board and got 6 replies. However, that doesn't solve the problem with the search feature. So is this a bug or I don't know what I am doing.

Well, your search subject is (IMO) obscure, in that I know of no one who ever washed their PF in a dishwasher! Why would you do that? It is chromed brass (unless it is a cheapo). Thus, I'd be surprised if there would be a link.
If you searched "Clean an espresso machine's Porta-filter" or just "cleaning a Porta-filter" you might see LOTS of threads specific to you...but prolly not referring to a dishwasher cleaning. Just my take.

Hello IMAWriter and thanks for the reply. Regarding your suggestions:
When I tried "cleaning a Porta-filter" in the search box with the quotes, your search engine returned 32809 results. When I tried without the quotes I got the exact same results.
When I tried "Clean an espresso machine's Porta-filter" with the quotes, the search engine returned an error twice. What I would like to be able to do on the website is to narrow down the results to something way more manageable. Over 30 000 results is way too much to look through.
