Subject: Is the CoffeeGeek server slow?

Hey all,

I ONLY experience it when I visit this site - but it seems like sometimes the CG site is very slow, and sometimes non-responsive.  For example, it takes over a minute for the forums link to load, etc....

I just wanted to see if the server that it uses was slow....or perhaps maxed out with traffic constantly.

Thanks,

Matt!

Yeah the site is struggling hence the major site rebuild currently in the works.  Basically what's happened is that CG has become so popular and busy that the server software can't handle the volume.  CG is custom built by Mark (and his company WebMotif Net Services, Inc.) and wasn't designed to handle the membership base we currently have.

Long story short hang in there slowdowns will be a way of life around here until the new CG is rolled out.  Look for it soon...

Tim,

Glad to hear about the new revision in the works -- should be exciting....

Glad I brought it up,

I've been meaning to ask the same question as sometimes it takes ages to get in & out of a section. Glad to hear it will disappear with the "new" forum. Any idea when the changeover will occur?

I believe Mark P said sometime between Jan - Feb. He's got a LOT on his plate at the moment.

No, I said the target date was an early April beta test, with a month or two public testing then out of beta by hopefully june.

Ok sorry Mark. I was trying to go from memory back when I very first heard of it, through the CG mod list..

I wondered this as well.  I haven't been here for a while and a few things have changed - the forum seems even slower than it did a couple of years ago.  The upgrade is good news.  Hope it's coming along well (and soon). :)
