Subject: Saeco Via Venezia Pressurized Portafilter Problems, back to back

I purchased a new Via Venezia from Amazon, when it arrived I could not get it to deliver coffee. Everything worked until I tried to get anything to flow through the pressurized portafilter (with and without coffee in it). The curious thing is this is the second time it has happened with a replacement machine after returning the first machine.

Anyone having similar problems?

I have tried it with various grinds (I have a Capriscio (sp?) burr grinder).

No filter and water flows fine.

I am replacing an older, 5 to 7 year old, Via so I have experience and success with the machine.

Saeco is sending me a non pressurized portafilter for my troubles but I am determined to figure this out.

Help.

Is there a flow without the portafilter locked in place?

Yes I get flow with no filter in place.

I spoke with customer service, nice and somewhat informed about the basics of the machine (on the 2nd call), but the end solution was they are sending me a non pressurized portafilter.
