Espresso: Gaggia Carezza, Moka Pot Drip: Ceramic pourover

I just bought my first espresso machine, a used older style Gaggia Carezza. I was able to get it to steam, but can't figure out how to brew a shot. I watched the couple YouTube videos available and read the instructions, and sadly I think the machine isn't working. It has a knob on top and 3 switches on the side: an on/off, a steam and a brew. It seems like it should be simple, but it's not working and I'm starting to worry I bought a dud. Anyone out there know how to help?

After you turn on the power, the red indicator should light. But if the machine has not been on for a while, the green indicator shall remain dim. When you turn on the brew switch, the machine is ready if the green indicator lights on. But if your light indicators is not lighting, it means something wrong with your machine. Just call the attention of the machine owner you have bought the machine or consult an expert.
Did you know...? Dark roast coffees actually have less caffeine than lighter roasts due to the fact that the process of roasting burns off caffeine. www.coffeeloversmag.com/theMagazine
