You need to set it up against a blind filter, with the machine preferably cold (brew boiler off), this means no water expansion issues will get in the way. I would set it at 9 bar if you are concerned, although you may not notice a huge difference in the cup. The main differences are a slightly softer shot. partly due to the lessened pressure and it's effect on the extraction process and partly because you will grind slightly coarser for the same flow. I would not recommend going below 9 bar.

P.S. The extraction looked a little long aim for about 27 seconds from lifting the lever, it also looked as if the shot blonded early in the latter 3rd of the extraction. This could be lot's of reasons, slightly stale coffee, grind level, etc.. I presume you have a naked portafilter, if so get in the habit of using it for a while. I don't actually use anything else, except when I need 2 cups from one shot. However, I normally only pull singles...I believe a good deep single basket produces a nicer shot.

Thanks for the hints,I gave definitely had a hard time getting sweeter shots , lowering should help.i have the bottomless PF but I have to get it right with doubles cause I make them for family. Let's see how it goes. Thanks

Shot didn't look terrible at all.. Pretty decent.
Hows the age on the coffee? Also, the pull looked a little long. Really, you need to use the bottomless to see what you're doing.
Also, pulling 2oz, from a double basket, without blonding, is quite a task, and it doesn't get the respect it deserves. Pulling traditional doubles is hard. Pulling slight ristretto is far easier. I remember reading an Article by Mark Prince on this very topic a while back, and recently I have been attempting to master the perfect double.. Its tough.
18grams is a good start point for the dose. Id stay around there. ID also pull into one cup, and shoot for anywhere from 1oz, to 1.5oz, in 27-40 seconds. Yes, that is a large range, and its not in line with the 2oz in 25 seconds that is accepted as standard, but I have had much success pulling ristrettos with that time frame. Im going to attempt to dial in a new blend tonight, it might still be a little fresh, but assuming good results Ill take some video if I can remember to do so.
Also.. You dont "NEED" to split a double shot into two cups. I personally never do, and most people dont. The saying, a shot of espresso, is really a misnomer these days, because we're almost always talking about a double shot. Make that cappucino with a full double shot instead of splitting it into two cups, you'll surely have a smile on your face when you taste the result.

Truth be told I had an easier time to get a good shot with my R58  I am using fresh coffee and still cannot pull a decent shot. I tried to change the temp of the PID but still no change. My shots tent to Blond very fast, not sure why, and I find the puck is too wet. I tried to increase the dose by one gram at a time and still no change.
The reason I do double shots in 2 cups is because I do it for the family , but really they are 2 single shots no?

In the statement above are so many things that could be lacking and affecting your shot quality as far as the pour and extraction issues.....I can tell you it's nothing to do with the machine.
From the way you describe a wet puck and shots too fast, is a little conflicting, coarser ground coffee gives a drier puck, too fine gives a wet soggy puck, however your saying wet and too fast. The problem you describe is usually caused by an inconsistent grind....what grinder do you have (do you grind just before the shot) and when you say fresh beans, where do you get them, when were they roasted and what beans are they exactly.

I know what you are saying and I am Stumped on this. I have a Mazzer mini and yes I grind before the shot, the beans I use are about 10 days old from a local place. I am not sure what bean it is. The Puck is not like soup but breaks easy. I will pay with it some more today.

ok I have a feeling that bad luck is on my back all the time LOL So I try and remove the Bolts to get to the Brew pressure and I see that one Bolt and washer are missing from the side. I go to the Store and buy one same as the one that was there and try to screw it in. I then realized why it was missing, because the threading inside was all messed up, so who ever put the machine back together left it with one nut holding the casing. Honestly I do not want to go back to the dealer so I might as well leave it.

Ugh. I would not call it bad luck, at least nothing you are creating, the dealer is another story. I would in the very least call them and let them know, either your place has no concern for quality control or the techs there are screwing the owner over by not caring. IMO the owner has tried to make you happy so he really may not be the bad guy, no harm in letting him know.
Did you try the bolt from the side that had one to see if that threaded in the suspect hole? Hopefully the threading is what is not matching but if they are buggered then that sucks big time. I tried to not install my bolts since they are such a pita but the case rattles something fierce with the pump running, I imagine one bolt is better then none but I also imagine two is better then one to quiet this.
Left or right side looking at it? I will pop my hood and take a look again, not sure a tap can even fit without removing things. Still there are work arounds but I need to have a look to see what it all looks like and see if a solution pops to mind. This might be something to start a thread about to get a solution from the vast wealth of knowledge around here.
